Hello, Hope everyone has had a healthy fun summer. Sue’s has been busy getting ready for September. Why you wander? Well one main reason is Sue Gibson will celebrate 32 years in the health food industry and 13 years of ownership. The second reason it’s the biggest most exciting month for us at Sue’s. The entire month we have things going on. We have a drawing you enter your name and number in to win lots of gift baskets. We have reps from the different companies to answer your questions and learn more about there products. That’s not all. We have three big days of money saving discounts. About Sue and her family: One thing that I (Tracey) would like everyone to know is I look up to my mom (Sue) so much. She puts everything she has into this business. She is constantly reading and researching new companies. If anyone has a question she stops what she is doing to help them. She has taught us kids everything she knows. I know I probably drove her crazy standing behind her when she was talking to one of her customers. It probably seemed like I was being nosy but I knew to stand and listen so I could follow in her foot steps. She takes books home every night to check out new products and to get the best prices to pass on to her customers. Mom thanks for giving me a job and teaching me what I know. We all know working with your kids is a job in its self. Now there is my brother Dickie. A lot of people don’t know he is Sue’s son. He is the baby. He helps with ordering and he is the one that prices everything and puts it on the shelf. He is also the one that maintains the store things like cleaning and making the floors shine like new money. Something that a lot of people don’t know is the knowledge that he has. There are so many times I will go to him to ask him a question. He stands back and doesn’t let everyone know how much he really knows. I’m so proud of him. Then there is Christy. Chris is not at the store as much now but she was the first of us kids to start working with mom. She earned a degree in naturopathy and others after that. She has now moved on with making her skin care line and keeping up with her three kids. She helps one Saturday a month. Last but not least. There is Mr. Sue. That is the nickname my Dad got working at the store. Dad really helped Mom get the business going. When we were at our old location Dad would go to the location we are at now and work all day getting the store ready for us to move in. He and my brother Dickie were the ones to put all those tiles down on the floor. If something broke or needed fixed dad was the one that would fix it. Dad was the one that decorated the store with all the old antiques you see and he was the one that painted the country scenes and the grape vines. Dad and Mom’s can do it all. Not only have they built a business but a family business that we hope that will be passed down to us kids and hopefully down to the grandkids. One last thing I (Tracey) would like to do is thank my daughter Summer for coming to work with me her whole summer break from school. She still had to get up early every morning and go to work with me. There were days she drove me crazy and I drove her crazy. But let me tell you she always got up and got ready and she done everything I asked her to do. She would help with weighing up the snack mixes we had she would help mark and put an order up and the thing that really amazed me was how she could show our customers where things are and on the last day of helping me how she spoke up and answered a customers question. She was really paying attention. It was Tracey standing behind Sue all over again. That’s how a family business starts and keeps going.
